About the role

The PYP Coordinator is a key curriculumleadership role that develops coordinates and monitors the IB PYP across the PrimaryYears. The PYP Coordinator should haveproven teaching ability and be able to act as a pedagogical leader of thePrimary Years Programme. The IB sees the responsibility for pedagogicalleadership within the school as being a shared responsibility to include thePYP Coordinator Principal and members of the pedagogical leadership team. This team at Good News Lutheran College comprisesof the Head of Campus and Head of Learning at the Mambourin campus. The PYP Coordinator is expected to display pedagogical leadership and to promote creative innovative thinkingamong colleagues in regard to curriculum assessment and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

KRA 1: People LeadershipLead the successful implementation of the IB PYP by guiding teachers fostering professional collaboration and building strong relationships with the IB community and stakeholders.

KRA 2: Pedagogical LeadershipDrive research-based teaching and learning practices by leading curriculum development collaborative planning and innovative learning environments across the Primary Years.

KRA 3: DocumentationOversee the development alignment and review of PYP curriculum documentation to ensure compliance with IB and Australian Curriculum requirements.

KRA 4: Assessment and ReportingLead effective assessment reporting and data practices to support student learning communicate progress and meet IB and national requirements.

KRA 5: Professional DevelopmentActively engage in and promote ongoing professional learning coaching and reflective practice to strengthen teaching and leadership capability.

KRA 6: Resource ManagementSupport the identification organisation and effective use of resources to enable authentic inquiry-based learning in the PYP.

KRA 7: Communication of PY Programme and PrioritiesPromote and communicate the PYP vision through strong collaboration with staff parents the IB network and the wider school community.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant Teaching qualifications and eligibility for registration as a teacher in Victoria.
  • Commitment to ongoing development of sound knowledge and understanding of the IB PYP Programme and its requirements.
  • Commitment to ongoing development of knowledge and understanding of teaching pedagogies and practices relevant to PYP and to optimising learning for all students.
  • A sound understanding of teaching and learning theories and practice; in particular authentic inquiry-based concept-driven learning
