Job Summary
Overview
The Fulfillment Technician Lead oversees daily workflow within the pharmacy fulfillment department to ensure accurate timely and compliant medication dispensing and distribution. This role serves as the primary operational lead for fulfillment technicians coordinating workload distribution monitoring productivity metrics maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting cross-department communication (Order Entry Control Room Inventory and Pharmacists).
The Lead functions as the first line of escalation for workflow issues and supports continuous process improvement initiatives.
*This is a full-time on-site position with hours of 9am 6pm Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Coordinate and prioritize daily fulfillment workload across all assigned sites
- Assign technicians to workflow assignments
- Monitor turnaround times to meet departmental metric goals
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging accuracy
- Conduct end-of-shift reconciliation and workflow reporting
Quality & Compliance
- Perform random quality checks on filled prescriptions
- Monitor/Create error logs and implement corrective action plans
- Ensure proper documentation of batch logs temperature logs and shipping manifests.
- Maintain audit readiness at all times
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide real-time coaching and performance feedback to technicians
- Assist with onboarding and training of new hires
- Monitor technician productivity and accuracy metrics
- Address workflow conflicts and escalate personnel issues when appropriate
- Lead daily huddles to review priorities backorders and workload distribution
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Coordinate with Order Entry for high-volume or urgent site requests
- Communicate with Inventory regarding stock shortages and backorders
- Work with Pharmacists to address clinical clarifications impacting fulfillment
- Support implementation of new processes or system changes
Reporting & Metrics Monitoring
- Track daily fulfillment volume by site
- Monitor error rate trends
- Review shipping accuracy and on-time delivery metrics
- Report staffing or workflow capacity concerns to management
Qualifications
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications
- Must hold and maintain a current unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification issued by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy with a minimum of 1-year experience
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) technician certification is required
- Must complete sufficient hours of CEU to maintain Technician license and technician certification
- Ensure all pharmaceutical services provided within the facility conform to state licensure accreditation regulatory agency requirements and company policies and procedures
- Demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity maintaining self-control when under pressure separating professional from personal issues displaying emotional maturity maintaining a high degree of integrity and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example.
- Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care
- Willingness to complete departmental duties in other areas as needed
- Willingness to complete special projects as needed from management
- Willingness to work assigned schedule and mandatory overtime in peak times
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies procedures and legal requirements
- Must pass the facilitys criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds) bend squat reach push pull walk significant distances and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
