Scope:
TheBuyer- External Manufacturing position is responsible for sourcing negotiating and procuring goods produced by external (contract) manufacturers ensuring quality cost-effectiveness and timely delivery. This role requires strong communication and supplier management skills attention to detail and the ability to coordinate between internal teams and external suppliers to meet production and business needs.
Job Summary:
Identify develop and manage external (contract) manufacturing suppliers to provide timely and cost-effective products to meet specifications and customer expectations. Meet key performance metrics for Supply Chain department such as but not limited to: Cost Savings Inventory Health Inventory Turnover Adherence to Safety Stock Levels Delivery Accuracy Purchase Price Variance.
Responsibilities- Work with External Manufacturing Team to identify evaluate and select contract manufacturing partners based on quality capacity cost and compliance.
- Negotiate pricing terms and supply agreements to achieve optimal value.
- Issue purchase orders and manage order confirmations changes and delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance resolve issues and maintain strong relationships.
- Collaborate with engineering quality and planning teams to ensure specifications and timelines are met.
- Track market trends material costs and supply chain risks to respond to market changes.
- Maintain accurate procurement records prepare supplier performance reports and prepare cost analyses.
- Work with suppliers to develop manufacturing plans consistent with finished product demand and inventory level objectives.
- Lead all material planning and procurement activities for assigned product to ensure alignment with ExM strategies and objectives.
- Identify key issues early and drive alignment between site plant and suppliers to effect resolutions. Participate with or lead cross-functional groups to solve supplier and customer-related issues.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain process through delivery to either the plant or the customer.
- Build relationships on all levels throughout the organization and with suppliers. Maintain open communication with Supply Chain Management and key internal stakeholders to ensure inventory plans are clearly understood and fulfilled.
- Support the development and launch of new products and product acquisitions.
- Develop prepare review and publish monthly and/or weekly reports as directed by management.
Travel: Travel is expected approximately 15% of time and will include international travel.
QualificationsKnowledge Skills and Abilities:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Business or related field (or equivalent experience).
3 years of procurement experience preferably in contract manufacturing for the medical device industry.
Strong negotiation analytical and communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of quality standards compliance requirements and manufacturing processes.
Proven capability in supplier relationship management cost analysis and negotiation.
Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English verbally (by phone in person) and in writing with all levels of management.
Work Environment:
- Office setting with prolonged sitting at computer workstation.
