Summary:

The Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding inspiring and educating students in a loving Christ-centered environment. The Teacher is to be immediately responsible to the principal for the carrying out of policies of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio as they relate to the function of the school the classroom and the immediate contact with students and parents.

Holy Spirit Catholic School is seeking an interventionist to support students through targeted academic and developmental interventions with a strong emphasis on early identification and support of learning needs. This position works collaboratively with teachers parents and administrators to provide individualized and small-group instruction for students ages 314. The interventionist plays a critical role in promoting student growth ensuring compliance with special education laws and helping each child reach their full potential.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
  • Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information services rendered to clients donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  • Acts as a witness to the Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Provides early academic and behavioral interventions for students identified as at-risk
  • Support students with diagnosed and suspected learning differences.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments to identify learning gaps and developmental concerns.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on student needs.
  • Deliver small group and one-to-one instructional support in literacy math executive functioning and foundational skills.
  • Monitor student progress regularly and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction.
  • Partner with parents to communicate student progress and provide support strategies.
  • Participate in Student Support Team (SST) RTI/MTSS meetings and other collaborative planning sessions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal special education laws.
  • Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of child development from early childhood through middle school (ages 314).
  • Knowledge of current special education laws including IDEA Section 504 and RTI/MTSS frameworks.
  • Familiarity with learning disabilities and developmental differences as well as implementation of accommodations including:
    • Dyslexia
    • Dysgraphia
    • ADHD
    • Speech and language delays.
  • Ability to recognize early signs of learning challenges and intervene proactively.
  • Ability to analyze assessment data to inform instruction.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education Special Education Early Childhood Education or related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification (Special Education certification preferred).
  • Experience working with children ages 314.
  • Experience in intervention special education or early childhood settings preferred.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of subject assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail oriented organized self-motivated work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
  • Maybe required to work some weekends and nights.
  • Required to work a minimum a full school day
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
