About Park City Sailing Association

Park City Sailing Association (PCSA) is a vibrant community-focused sailing program dedicated to cultivating a diverse and welcoming community of sailors in Utah. We provide enriching experiences for sailors of all ages and backgrounds through outreach boat access racing social events and educational opportunities using our well-maintained fleet and quality facilities at the stunning Jordanelle Reservoir. Nestled in Utahs mountain paradise just a few minutes away from historic Park City old town our programs emphasize skill development teamwork sportsmanship and fun amid breathtaking scenery and year-round outdoor adventures.

PCSA boasts an active sailing community with over 600 participants and 100 vessels. Our youth sailing school led by Head Coach Christian Koules serves more than 30 junior sailors in advanced programs while our Guppy program introduces the youngest learners (ages 57) to the joys of sailing. Were proud recipients of the 2024 US Sailing Outstanding Community Sailing Program award the 2017 Robie Pierce Award for Adaptive Sailing and we hosted the 2025 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship. Position Overview

The On-Shore Support (OSS) serves as the primary on-shore support professional for the Sailing School. This role ensures a safe organized welcoming and well-managed shore environment while providing attentive care to students who are injured ill or temporarily removed from on-water activities. It also involves being the point of contact for parents during school hours. This seasonal role involves classroom dry-land presence on weekdays (all day typically 9am-4pm). The Sailing School summer session is June 1 to Aug 21.

We offer competitive compensation starting at $3500 per month (based on experience; negotiable for exceptional candidates). The OSS Shore Parent supports administrative logistics parent communication check-in/check-out procedures and help maintaining a clean professional facility consistent with US Sailing safety and SafeSport standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students who:
    • Are injured or not feeling well
    • Are temporarily restricted from sailing or assigned behavioral shore time

  • Provide basic first aid within certification scope
  • Serve as a friendly professional point of contact during program hours
  • Assist with parent questions at drop-off and pick-up
  • Maintain incident documentation in coordination with Program Director
  • Contact parents/guardians when necessary
  • Communicate clearly regardingminor injuries illness concerns behavioral notifications (as directed by leadership)
  • Follow all mandatory reporting and SafeSport protocols
  • Help organize equipment and maintain clean docks and classrooms
  • Ensure first aid supplies are stocked and accessible
  • Support filing and record keeping as assigned
  • Help monitor student flow between dock and classroom while assisting instructors during transition times (launch lunch dock rotations)
  • Support behavioral expectations consistently and respectfully
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with T-shirt distribution and merchandise
  • Help coordinate distribution of operational updates daily photos report cards etc. to parents
  • Support special events and regattas

The OSS Shore Parent does not provide medical diagnosis only certified first aid and supervisory care.

Required qualifications

  • Experience working with young children (ages 5 - 17).
  • Ability to supervise and engage kids creatively while maintaining structure and safety.
  • Enthusiastic patient nurturing demeanor with strong boundaries communication and organizational skills.
  • Current First Aid & CPR/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain with PCSA financial support).
  • Valid drivers license and clean background check.
  • Physical ability to lift 30-40 lbs and move between dock classroom and administrative areas frequently
  • Authorization to work in the United States (we unfortunately cannot provide sponsorship).

Preferred qualifications

  • Formal background in early childhood education or related field.
  • Additional water safety certifications (e.g. lifeguard basic keelboat knowledge).
  • State Boating Safety Certificate
  • Qualified powerboat operator
