- Certification as an elementary principal.
- Permanent teaching certification.
- A Masters degree or higher.
- Personal qualities necessary to function as an instructional leader.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
JOB PURPOSE: To use leadership supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Plans organizes and directs implementation of all school activities.
- Makes recommendations concerning the schools administration and instruction.
- Prepares and submits the schools budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds.
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports records lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the schools administration.
- Works with various members of the central administrative staff on school issues of more than in-school import such as transportation special services and the like.
- Keeps supervisor informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisors accountability.
- Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations.
- Maintains professional relationships with students parents staff and administration.
- Leads in the development implementation and monitoring of the instructional program.
- Assists in the development revision and evaluation of the curriculum.
- Monitors the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development.
- Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct and maintains student discipline.
- Controls the various funds generated by student activities.
- Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.
- Assumes responsibility for the attendance conduct and maintenance of the health of students.
- Assumes responsibility for his own professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations through attendance at the regional state and national meetings through enrollment in advanced courses and the like.
- Supervises all professional paraprofessional administrative and non-professional personnel attached to the school.
- Participates in the selection and evaluation of all school building personnel.
- Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments.
- Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development as appropriate.
- Assists in the in-service and training of teachers.
- Recommends according to established procedures the removal of an employee whose work is unsatisfactory.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant.
- Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes.
- Plans and supervises fire drills and emergency preparedness programs.
- Provides for adequate inventories of property under his jurisdiction and for the security and accountability for that property.
- Supervises or causes to be supervised all activities and programs that are outgrowths of the schools curriculum.
- Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.
- Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and news releases.
- Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret Board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the supervisor(s) may from time-to-time assign.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
