Pay Grade: Paygrade F hourly rate

Reports To: Executive Director of Organizational Development and Student Learning Experiences
Start Date: March 17 2026
Schedule: Monday - Friday11:30 am -12:30 pm and 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Contract: Paid on a Timesheet
SUMMARY:
This position is an extra duty secretary to fill in at the front desk of 1453 Winchester Avenue Martinsburg to answer the door and the switchboard during the full time employees lunch 11:30 am - 12:30 pm and the hours 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm. Monday-Friday. Hours will be paid through a timesheet. This extra duty job cannot interfere with the fulltime employees contracted work hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicates collaborates and cooperates with colleagues supervisors and students.
- Makes and receives telephone calls takes messages routes calls
- Distributes mail
- Greets visitors works with parents professional and non-certified staff in a pleasant and efficient manner
- Types prepares distributes files records/reports correspondence mailings etc. related to building functions and principal needs
- Takes/transcribes notes for correspondence
- Maintains confidentiality
- Operates standard office equipment
- Takes in-service training as stipulated by contract
- Distributes district flyers
- Performs duties in accordance to contract W. Va. Code and policies.
- Otherduties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Take and pass the WV Department of Educations competency exams for secretary classification.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to pass a typing test at 45 words per minute. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to get along with other people. Patience in dealing with parents and children. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
