Job Description:
- Provides psychiatric consultations patient assessments and treatment plans for patients receiving mental health services. Evaluates new admissions to reach a diagnosis and treat identified mental illness.
- Re-evaluates patients under care to refine diagnosis and treatment as indicated.
- Prescribes medications following the CHS Pharmacy Formulary.
- Participates in the management of patients who require involuntary treatment including but not limited to initiating Court-ordered evaluation and ordering the administration of involuntary medications as indicated.
- Participates as a member of the Mental Health Interdisciplinary Treatment team assists the team in developing SNTP and coordinates with the Forensic Team for any patients in a forensic program participates in the development of psychiatric protocols and clinical practice guidelines to ensure medical services are provided in a cost-effective manner that is consistent with psychiatric standards and appropriate for the correctional setting.
- Assists with preparation for licensure and accreditation surveys.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma/transcripts to support graduation with a M.D. or D.O. from an accredited program.
- Residency and/or fellowship certificates to support completion of an accredited U.S. Residency or Fellowship training program in Psychiatry.
- Current valid unrestricted Psychiatrist license to practice allopathic or osteopathic medicine issued by the Arizona Medical Board.
- Current completed PSV from the Arizona Medical Board.
- Current DEA/Controlled Substance Registration Certificate to prescribe Schedule II III and IV drugs.
- Current completed NPI verification.
- Current completed fit testing for N95 particulate respirators.
- Minimum three years of past work experience in this position.
Required Skills:
Conduct patient evaluations histories and physical exams for new and follow-up cardiology patients Manage and monitor patients with cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension coronary artery disease atrial fibrillation heart failure and hyperlipidemia Order and interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs Holter monitors echocardiograms and stress tests Assist in care coordination for procedures or specialty referrals Provide inpatient cardiology consults and follow-ups (if applicable) Participate in hospital rounds discharge planning and transitions of care Educate patients and families on lifestyle changes medications and disease management Collaborate closely with supervising cardiologists primary care providers and support staff
Required Education:
Current and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Hawaii or eligibility to obtain one National certification (AANP ANCC or NCCPA) BLS and ACLS certification required 12 years cardiology or internal medicine experience preferred; strong new graduates with relevant rotations or RN cardiology background considered Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Comfortable working independently with physician support EMR experience
