Job Description:
- Provides direct medical care and treatment to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Collects and records a complete medical history and develop an individualized treatment plan.
- Provides education in a manner that enhances one to learn about their disease or chronic condition.
- Skilled in planning and organizing work.
- Manages time appropriately to complete multiple job tasks efficiently and at times simultaneously which includes delivering direct patient care managing questions from nursing staff and completing queue work in the electronic health record.
- Maintains knowledge of quality control management and assurance processes.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma/transcripts to support graduation from an accredited PA program.
- Current valid unrestricted Physicians Assistant (PA) license issued by the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants.
- Current completed PSV from the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants.
- Current completed Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current DEA/Controlled Substance Registration Certificate to prescribe Schedule II III and IV drugs.
- Current completed NPI verification.
- Current completed fit testing for N95 particulate respirators.
- Current completed Delegation Agreement.
- Minimum two years of past work experience in this position.
Required Skills:
Conduct patient evaluations histories and physical exams for new and follow-up cardiology patients Manage and monitor patients with cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension coronary artery disease atrial fibrillation heart failure and hyperlipidemia Order and interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs Holter monitors echocardiograms and stress tests Assist in care coordination for procedures or specialty referrals Provide inpatient cardiology consults and follow-ups (if applicable) Participate in hospital rounds discharge planning and transitions of care Educate patients and families on lifestyle changes medications and disease management Collaborate closely with supervising cardiologists primary care providers and support staff
Required Education:
Current and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Hawaii or eligibility to obtain one National certification (AANP ANCC or NCCPA) BLS and ACLS certification required 12 years cardiology or internal medicine experience preferred; strong new graduates with relevant rotations or RN cardiology background considered Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Comfortable working independently with physician support EMR experience
