Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren MI three times per week at minimum . Occasional travel to Milford MI will also be required.

The Role:

The Low Voltage Infrastructure Team within the Embedded Platform Systems & Infrastructure organization is focused on the development of systems and controls centered around on-vehicle low voltage power generation energy storage power management distribution and consumptionon ICEEVand PHEV vehicle platforms.There is no better time to join this domain as we evolve to the next generation of low voltage power strategy innovation and capability incurrent product VIP andthe next generation onSDV2.0.

As a Subsystem Lead Engineer your technicalexpertisein the low voltage power management domain will beleveragedthroughout the entire vehicle development life cycle including requirements definition design and implementation integration testing and problem resolution. Your products will be at the core of all vehicles within the General Motors portfolio and are essential to keeping General Motors at the forefront of low voltage related technologies.

Your endeavors will significantly contribute to GMs vision of a world with ZERO Crashes ZERO Emissions and ZERO Congestion emphasizing the transformative impact of Software Defined Vehicle architecture.

What Youll Do:

  • Lead functional breakdown requirements development and failure analysis for low voltage power management related subsystems and ART solutions

  • Create andmaintainfunctional and non-functional requirements in the Sub-System Technical Specification (SSTS) and Behavioral Test Specifications (BTS) using Behavioral Driven Development (BDD) methodologies

  • Direct subsystem design with uniform holistic solutions across diverse vehicle architectures to reduce complexity. Coordinate with systems engineers and hardware teams to ensure alignment on interface and performance requirements

  • Lead triad meetings for development of solution requirements and test cases to enable quality software creation

  • Support the scrum team members in the decomposition and understanding of the solution or subsystem requirements as needed

  • Collaborate with controls and software engineers to review software implementation ensuring compliance with requirements

  • Lead development of subsystem level FMEAs and collaborate on System and Component FMEAs

  • Engage in root cause analysis for applicable subsystem related issues translating solutions into new or revised requirements for low voltage power management

  • Offer technical support for the power management related features to people internal and external to the Electric Power ART help resolve PRTSs share lessons learned/best practices and capture IP/ROIs/etc

  • Support Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) related planning and work acceptance meetings

Embedded Software Development Expertise:

  • Possess a robust experience in embedded software development with the ability to draft software requirements ensuring software independence from hardware while understanding the underlying hardware architecture

  • Utilize simulation environments and plant modeling for testing orrequirementsgeneration. Yourexpertisein embedded software development is complemented by a deep understanding of Battery Systems empowering you to adeptly navigate through the complexities of hardware-software interactions.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors degreein Engineering

  • 5 years of automotive engineering experience related to embedded controls requirements development architecture development and/or systems engineering

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including independent judgement and decision-making skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and assignments witha high levelof autonomy and accountability for results

  • Physics-based understanding of voice-of-customer

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability of leading cross-functional teams influencing without direct authority and building relationships in difficult circumstances

  • Experience defining and troubleshooting interactions between hardware and embedded controls

What Will Give YouACompetitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Masters degree in Engineeringwith a focus on Controls Electrical Mechanical and/or Systems Engineering.

  • Design experience with automotive low voltage electric power related components controls subsystems and/or architectures

  • Familiarity with high voltage systems within electric and hybrid electric vehicles

  • Experience developing requirements at the system or subsystem level
