JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Sales& Marketing

REPORTS TO: General Manager

STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Sales & Marketingis responsible forthe strategic leadership and day-to-day management of all hotel sales and marketing functions including direct sales catering sales sales administration and public relations. This role drives topline revenue performance by developing and executing comprehensive revenue strategies aligned with market conditions brand standards and hotelobjectives.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

  • Minimum of 35 years of experience as a Director of Sales and/or Marketing in a large group or convention hotel.

  • Prior experience in multiple hotel departments preferably Front Office and Food & Beverage is strongly preferred.

  • Experience handling key accounts and complex negotiations preferred.

  • Excellent communicationpresentationand listening skills.

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and database applicationsrequired.

Physical requirements:

  • Flexible and long hourssometimesrequired.

  • Medium work Exerting up to25pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of forcefrequentlyor constantlyto lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound business judgment.

  • Proficiencyin Delphi Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work independently manage priorities andmaintainconfidentiality.

  • Achieve or exceed revenue ADR and occupancy targets.

  • Maintain strong client satisfaction and repeat business.

  • Develop a cohesive engaged and results-driven Sales & Marketing team.

  • Uphold brand standards and represent the hotel as a market leader.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

Fundamental Requirements:

  • ManageDevelop implement and manage the annual Revenue Plan sales budget and forecasts in partnership with the Executive Committee.

  • Analyze market trends demand patterns and competitive positioning to maximize occupancy ADR and total revenue.

  • Lead weekly Yield/Revenue meetings to adjust pricing strategies andoptimizehigh- and low-demand periods.

  • Create and execute short- and long-term sales strategies including five-year strategic planning.

  • Direct all sales activities across market segments including corporate group convention incentive tour & travel and FIT.

  • Drive new and repeat business through proactive solicitation relationship management and strategic partnerships.

  • Oversee sales trips key account calls site visits and participation in major industry and travel events.

  • Ensure the hotel is actively represented in the local business and hospitality community.

  • Lead coach and develop the Sales & Marketing team to achieve revenue planobjectives.

  • Set clear goalsmonitorperformance and conduct regular performance reviews.

  • Identifytraining needs and ensure compliance with brand training standards.

  • Foster a collaborative accountable and high-performance sales culture.

  • Oversee sales reporting forecasting account management and CRM accuracy.

  • Ensure adherence to hotel policies brand standards and sales procedures.

  • Coordinate closely with Operations Revenue Management and Corporate Sales to ensure seamless execution of booked business.

  • Maintainaccuratesales documentation contracts and promotional materials.

  • Meet with major group and event clients on property to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.

  • Communicate market trends demand needs and performance updates to the Executive Committee.

  • Prepare executive-level reports presentations and written communications asrequired.

  • Perform other reasonableduties asassigned by hotel leadership.

In accordance with New Jersey State Legislature (New Jersey Legislature Bill S2310 Sca (1R)) which requires private employers with ten (10) or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs promotion or transfer opportunities. This position pays $105k/ year dependent on experience.
