Job Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  • Transportation Responsibilities:
    • Organize and oversee airport pickups and drop-offs.
    • Create and manage transportation schedules.
    • Verify flight details to ensure accurate timing.
    • Maintain clear communication with parents and USSRC support departments regarding arrivals and departures.
  • Transportation Organization and Staffing
    • Meet or exceed expectations set by the Weekend Operations Manager and Director of Operations regarding employee recruitment hiring onboarding performance evaluations and discipline.
    • Ensure airport staff receive timely relevant and appropriate training.
    • Ensure airport staff comply with all USSRC policies and procedures as well as FAA and Port of Huntsville Authority (HSV) regulations.
    • Provide consistent oversight and complete performance evaluations on time.
    • Maintain regular professional communication with USSRC staff sharing all relevant operational information.
    • Collaborate with the planning department to create staffing schedules that maximize productivity and minimize overhead.
  • Administration
    • Prepare and distribute airport pickup and drop-off schedules in a timely manner to ensure all Rocket Center departments are properly informed.
    • Verify flight numbers and arrival times for all camp participants and promptly notify Camp Operations Leadership of any changes.
    • Submit pre- and post-camp meal counts to the appropriate manager for scheduling.
    • Serve as the Rocket Centers point of contact with the Port of Huntsville Authority to coordinate training schedules for newly selected airport staff.
    • Communicate with Camp Reservations department and parents/guardians regarding updated travel information.
    • Meet or exceed expectations of the Camp Operations Leadership Team by completing all related tasks accurately and on time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Level of Supervision: Supervisor

Travel Required:

Yes local. Between the Rocket Center and Huntsville Airport.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • 6 months of supervisory experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to lead direct and schedule staff and resources effectively.
  • Must be able to obtain a Port of Huntsville SIDA (Security) badge.
  • A valid drivers license in good standing is required with the applicant being at least 21 years of age to operate a Rocket Center vehicle.

Physical Requirements

This position has the following special requirements:

  • Walking and standing for long periods. (6 hours)
  • Carrying and lifting 50 lbs
  • Climbing up and down stairs.
  • Reading comprehension and reasoning skills. (Reading/interpreting flight boards)
  • Good verbal communication skills

Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have Valid US drivers license and be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to obtain TSA Sterile Area certification pending fingerprint and Federal background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Factors

This position involves working in a climate-controlled office environment and building though it will also require walking to and from various buildings in different weather conditions. The role involves extensive interaction with employees and guests within the assigned areas of responsibility as well as frequent interaction with both small children and adults. Additionally the position requires the ability to effectively and efficiently operate all simulators as designated by management.

Expected Hours of Work

This position requires full availability Thursday through Sunday with Monday Tuesday and Wednesday as regularly scheduled days off.

Typical hours are Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required as needed to support operational demands.
