The Food Pantry Coordinator provides daily oversight of the NHCC Emergency Food Pantry and is also responsible for building community relationships to assist with obtaining donations and funding sources. Direct contact with pantry clients is required so experience working with underserved populations is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Adhering to agency policy as well as policies from the town county or other organizations whom provide support donations funding etc.
Identify and establish new sources of food and/or financial donations with local resources and businesses; maintain current relationships with donors
Pick-up shop store and organize food from donation sources stores etc.
Facilitate referrals and pack food in a timely manner
Train and oversee volunteers and staff; maintain schedules of staff and volunteers to ensure coverage
Maintain cleanliness and order of Emergency Food Pantry in accordance to all policies
Participate in site inspections maintain appropriate follow-up
Participate in required trainings as scheduled i.e. food safety
Prepare maintain and report monthly statistics to appropriate entities within established timeframes
Maintain necessary records including but not limited to personnel extermination temperature logs inventory client information
Maintain inventory tracking and oversight to ensure quality of food
Abide by NYS Laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles
Use of ones personal vehicle may be required; use of agency vehicle must adhere to agency guidelines
Assist clients with applying for SNAP benefits and identify other possible referrals as needed
Requirements:
High School Diploma / GED
Ability to read write and communicate in English and Spanish
Valid drivers license this position involves travel throughout Nassau Suffolk and Queens
Computer skills
Ability to bend lift and carry at least 50 pounds daily
Ability to perform continuous walking stooping standing and climbing
Ability to represent NHCC to the community in a professional manner adhering to our core values
Ability to interact with members of the community and building donor relationships
Ability to plan and coordinate the distribution of food and commodities to meet the needs of the program
Ability to work 3 days per week (8 hours/day)
Preferred:
One (1) year of human services experience providing direct service to clients diagnosed with several mental illness HIV/AIDS or other disabilities
