The CARES Coordinator will lead a citywide initiative within Juvenile Operations focused on delivering structured pro-social programming to youth on probation. This role is responsible for the full ownership strategic direction and operational execution of CARES including program design staff supervision partnership development and performance management. The Coordinator will ensure that CARES programming meaningfully engages youth particularly those identified as higher risk by expanding their exposure to arts culture education and recreational opportunities across New York City and surrounding areas. Through strong leadership and data-informed decision-making the Coordinator will drive program quality safety and impact while aligning CARES with the broader goals of the Department of Probation.
This position requires a hands-on leader who can both set vision and manage day-to-day operations ensuring that programming is consistent equitable and responsive to the needs of youth and their families. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the CARES Unit including the design implementation and continuous improvement of pro-social programming across all five boroughs.
-Lead program development and decision-making related to activities partnerships and resource allocation to ensure alignment with agency goals youth needs and evidence-informed practices.
-Design and oversee the implementation of structured curricula and programming focused on leadership development arts and culture health and wellness and recreation.
-Supervise and manage CARES Interns ensuring high-quality service delivery clear expectations and accountability; develop and implement training and onboarding to equip interns with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively engage and support youth.
-Establish program priorities and make real-time operational decisions to ensure safe effective and engaging programming for youth particularly those identified as higher risk through YLS assessments.
-Develop and maintain a comprehensive citywide activity calendar ensuring consistency equity of access and strategic distribution of resources.
-Monitor program performance and outcomes using data to inform decision-making improve programming and report on impact.
-Ensure compliance with all safety protocols policies and procedures making critical decisions in the field to protect the well-being of youth and staff.
-Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with community-based organizations cultural institutions and service providers to expand opportunities for youth.
-Report directly to the Deputy Commissioner and Associate Commissioner of Juvenile Operations providing regular updates strategic recommendations and insights to inform broader Juvenile Operations priorities and decision-making.
-Foster a positive youth development environment modeling leadership accountability and professionalism for both staff and participants.
-Oversee the collection management and analysis of program data ensuring accurate reporting attendance tracking and evaluation of program effectiveness.

Qualifications :
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
