Summary:

The Preschool Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding inspiring and educating students in a loving Christ-centered environment. The Teacher is to be immediately responsible to the principal for the carrying out of policies of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio as they relate to the function of the school the classroom and the immediate contact with students and parents.

Holy Spirit Catholic School is seeking a warm enthusiastic and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children ages 34 a strong understanding of phonics instruction and a passion for fostering joyful developmentally appropriate learning experiences. This role requires creativity patience and excellent communication skills with both children and families.


Position Responsibilities:

Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the schools mission.

  • Acts as a witness to the Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Plan and implement engaging age-appropriate lessons and activities for 3- and 4-year-old children
  • Introduce early literacy concepts including phonics instruction through playful and structured learning
  • Foster social emotional cognitive and physical development in a nurturing environment
  • Create a safe inclusive and supportive classroom climate
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding student progress behavior and classroom updates
  • Observe document and assess each childs development to tailor instruction
  • Encourage creativity curiosity and independence through hands-on learning
  • Collaborate with your teaching partner teaching assistants and other staff to maintain a positive and organized classroom
  • Uphold all licensing safety and health regulations
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.


Classroom Management and Organization:

  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books equipment and other instructional materials as required.

Communication:

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development:

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills
  • Keep informed of and comply with Department of Catholic school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other document required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children (specifically ages 34)
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of phonics instruction
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults
  • Demonstrates creativity patience and enthusiasm for early childhood education
  • Ability to manage a dynamic classroom environment with care and consistency
  • Early Childhood Education coursework or certification preferred
