Position: Athletic Coordinator

Reports to:Athletic Director Middle School Principal and Middle School Assistant Principal

Location: Deer Park Middle School

Begins:2026-2027 School Year

Purpose Statement:

The Middle School Athletic Coordinator serves as the primary building contact for middle school athletics and acts as a liaison between the school District Athletic Director coaches parents and league representatives. This position supports the planning organization and operation of the middle school athletic program while ensuring compliance with district league and WIAA regulations. The coordinator models positive leadership sportsmanship and professionalism for students and the school community.


The Middle School Activities Coordinator will NOT be able to hold head coaching positions at the high school while serving in this position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for coaches parents and league representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with WIAA and Inland Empire Middle School League (IEML) rules and regulations.
  • Attend league Athletic Director meetings and communicate schedule changes or cancellations.
  • Manage athletic schedules including entering schedules in Arbiter and communicating updates to coaches staff and families.
  • Ensure transportation requests are completed for away contests.
  • Assist with the hiring and retention of middle school coaches.
  • Coordinate game operations including hiring clock operators when needed.
  • Maintain required athletic documentation (physicals eligibility parental consent) in collaboration with building staff.
  • Monitor student eligibility and perform grade checks.
  • Coordinate equipment inventories with coaches and maintain electronic records.
  • Communicate facility use and event needs with custodial staff and facility users.
  • Coordinate with the District Athletic Director to maintain WIAA coaching documentation.
  • Report injuries to administration in a timely manner.
  • Support enforcement of district policies athletic regulations and school expectations.
  • Maintain regular attendance and professional interactions with students staff parents and community members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Deer Park School District staff member.
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint clearance.
  • Valid Washington State drivers license or evidence of mobility.
  • Proof of immunization (if born after January 1 1957).
  • I-9 employment eligibility verification.
  • Completion of required district training within 30 days of hire.
  • Preference given to Middle School Employees.

  • Experience coaching in a K12 school setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate a middle school athletic program.
  • Ability to motivate students and promote positive sportsmanship.
  • Demonstrated organizational record-keeping and technology skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY:

2026-27 Stipend $10000 (prorated based on start date)

Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services. This position is evaluated by the Athletic Director in collaboration with the Middle School Principal according to district evaluation procedures.
