Job Goal: Summer programming at Capuano offers experiences for children with little to no prior preschool experience or who would benefit from summer programming as they transition to kindergarten.
During Summer Explore students learn readiness skills and make friends to support a smooth entry into kindergarten. They will have a daily routine that includes free breakfast and lunch learning in literacy and math time to play and extra fun activities. Parents can also get involved in activities to help connect what students learn at home and school.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to maintain the safety of students and families as they enter and exit school
- Ability to support bilingual/multicultural communication with diverse students and families.
- Organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a positive outlook and interact positively with the community
- Knowledge of Somerville Public Schools and the Somerville Community
Responsibilities:
- Screens visitors before allowing access to the school building through operation of the bell intercom system to allow access to the building
- Directs community members student families and external partners to specific rooms of academic and activity clubs within a building
- Answers phones in the main office and transferring calls
- Makes attendance calls to student families
- Assist in management of the supplies for the buildings programs
- General record keeping for the buildings programs including student attendance support and staff sign-in/sign-out sheet
- Assist building leadership with emergency management situations such as fire or lockdown drills
- Other duties as assigned
Terms of Employment:
- Seasonal/Yearly Employment
- Location: Michael E. Capuano Early Childhood Center
- $23 per hour worked
- Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days: June 25-26
