Position Overview:The Payroll Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the Payroll Department by monitoring payroll inboxes responding to routine employee inquiries assisting payroll processors with data entry and documentation and helping ensure payroll processes run smoothly and on time. This role does not independently process payroll but plays a critical support role in day-to-day payroll operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage payroll department email inbox and phone inquiries.
- Respond to routine employee payroll questions (pay dates deductions tax forms direct deposit address changes).
- Route complex payroll issues to the appropriate payroll processor or supervisor.
- Track open payroll issues and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist payroll processors with data entry documentation and audit support.
- Upload organize and maintain payroll documentation and employee records.
- Prepare reports spreadsheets and reconciliation support as requested.
- Ensure payroll documents are properly filed and retained according to company policy.
- Provide general assistance to payroll administrators during payroll cycles
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of administrative payroll or accounting support experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of payroll concepts (taxes deductions pay cycles).
- Ability to maintain a high level of trust and confidentiality with sensitive items.
- Must be detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook and the ability to learn new software applications and computer programs.
- Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with COINS ERP payroll module or other construction ERP systems.
