Position Overview

The Office of Residence Life at Santa Clara University seeks a motivated detail-oriented and values-driven graduate student for a JASPA Summer Internship focused on organizational systems administrative operations and student leader formation.

This internship offers a behind-the-scenes look at how a large mission-centered residential life program functions at a Jesuit institution. The intern will support department-wide initiatives that strengthen clarity consistency and sustainability across Residence Life operations. Rather than being assigned to a single residential area the interns work will impact the entire department making this an ideal opportunity for a graduate student interested in residential life administration systems design training and student affairs leadership.

The intern will work closely with professional Residence Life staff and members of the leadership team with opportunities for collaboration and relationship-building across campus partners.

Primary Responsibilities- Operations & Systems Support

  • Create and maintain centralized systems for programming and emergency supply inventory tracking.

  • Support departmental efforts to streamline administrative processes and organize shared resources.

  • Assist with documenting and improving operational workflows to enhance clarity and efficiency.

Desk Assistant Program Organization

  • Support the organization of Desk Assistant materials including hiring manuals training resources and role expectations.

  • Assist in centralizing documentation to promote consistency across residential areas.

Student Leader Formation Support

  • Assist in preparing Student Leader Formation materials by organizing content to support diverse learning styles.

  • Collaborate with professional staff to ensure materials reflect learning outcomes Jesuit values and holistic student development.

Collaboration & Professional Engagement

  • Work closely with Residence Life professional staff and leadership team members.

  • Gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration with campus partners including Housing and the Dean of Students Office.

  • Participate in meetings and professional development opportunities as appropriate.

Learning Outcomes & Jesuit Formation

Through this internship the student will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of Jesuit values in student affairs particularly cura personalis reflection and community-centered leadership.

  • Develop practical skills in residential life administration systems thinking and operational leadership.

  • Identify how effective behind-the-scenes work directly enhances student experience and community wellbeing.

  • Strengthen professional competencies related to collaboration communication and organizational design within a student affairs context.
