School Psychologist
Canadian Rockies Public Schools is now accepting applications for a Full-Time School Psychologist.
Canmore and Banff National Park are located one hour west of Calgary. Nestled in the scenic Rocky Mountains our school division is surrounded by beautiful lakes world-class parks and recreational areas and an extensive all-season trail system.
Duties to include:
- Understands and demonstrates the Canadian Rockies Public Schools vision and mission of Whole Child Education and Instructional Excellence.
- Working with collaborative school based teams to develop and implement universal targeted and specialized social emotional support for our students.
- Consult with the leadership team to identify and support school based needs. These may include attendance dysregulation trauma and emotional support.
- Management of referrals and student individual caseloads.
- Complete formal assessments as needed and work with teams to provide school based interventions.
- Provide families with support including access to wrap around services parenting strategies and crisis management.
- Implementation of schoolwide and targeted wellness initiatives.
- Assist classroom teachers and school teams with strategies for students encountering learning behavioural emotional and social difficulties.
- Ability to determine special education eligibility recommending programming strategies and/or placements.
- Consult with outside agencies to provide wraparound services with external professionals in the Bow Valley (pediatricians psychologists family support agencies etc.).
- Completion of a professional graduate program related to school or counselling psychology. A Masters level Degree in Psychology is preferred.
- Qualified to provide Level B and C standardized assessments.
- Accountable for the development and provision of quality clinical services to students and families.
- Critical Incident and Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) would be an assent.
- Able to respond and support students families and the school community with crisis management.
Hours: Monday-Friday; follows the school calendar
