Job Description
Senior Linux Administrator is responsible for the technical operation of Motorola Solutions servers applications networks databases and associated hardware. They evaluate procure install and upgrade hardware software and applications as well as ensure the performance accuracy quality integrity and security of Motorola Solutions technical environment.
Basic Requirements
Responsible for:
System Administration: Install configure and maintain Linux servers. Implement OS customizations to optimize performance and meet specific requirements. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripts (Bash Python etc.) for automating routine tasks. Streamline system processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Create custom scripts for specific system requirements.
Cloud Integration: Deploy configure and manage Linux-based instances on cloud platforms. Implement and manage cloud services like virtual machines storage and networking. Optimize systems for cloud-based environments.
Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures for both on-premises and cloud environments. Conduct regular security audits and respond to incidents. Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
User Account Management: Create modify and delete user accounts. Manage permissions and access control in both traditional and cloud environments.
Backup and Recovery: Develop and test backup strategies for both on-premises and cloud environments. Perform data recovery tasks as needed.
Networking and Integration: Troubleshoot basic network settings. Collaborate with network administrators to ensure seamless integration with cloud services.
Documentation: Create and maintain system documentation including customizations and cloud configurations. Develop and update operational procedures for both traditional and cloud-based systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions that meet business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of professional work experience in the information technology field.
Strong knowledge of Linux system administration including installation configuration performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Experience with shell scripting and automation (Bash Python Perl etc.)
Working experience with Service Now JIRA
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware KVM)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Azure)
Strong knowledge of network protocols services (DNS DHCP) and security principles.
Experience with configuration management tools like RedHat Satellite Ansible Puppet is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong english communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Professional certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or similar are highly desirable.
Ability to work on call schedule
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
