Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
Shift: Nights 3x12 (7:00 PM 7:30 AM)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
Ratios: 1:45
Seeking an experienced MS/Telemetry RN to care for adult patients with complex neurological and stroke-related conditions in a high-acuity setting. This role requires strong neuro and telemetry competency adherence to stroke care guidelines and the ability to manage patients with post-surgical and medical complications.
Embolic & hemorrhagic strokes
Epileptic & non-epileptic seizures
Spinal cord injuries
Traumatic brain injuries
Pre/post neurosurgical patients:
Shunt revisions
Tumor removals
Craniotomies / Cranioplasties
Heparin is the sole IV drip used on the unit
Stroke care follows AHA guidelines for Comprehensive Stroke Center standards
Active South Carolina RN License or Multistate License (Pending license not accepted)
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience required
Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele experience
Strong neurological care background
Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
Rapid Response Team participation
Vascular & IV Skills:
Peripheral IV insertion and care
Accessing ports
PICC & central line management
Blood product administration
Respiratory Skills:
High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
Nasal cannula
Tracheostomy management
Cardiac Monitoring:
Remote telemetry
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Neurological Care:
CVA management
Spinal cord injury care
Traumatic brain injury
Pre/post neurosurgical care
Additional Competencies:
Feeding tube care
PCA management
Heparin protocols
Continuous bladder irrigation
Isolation precautions
Surgical drain management
