Job Summary

The Account Manager is responsible for representing People Corporation to clients and insurance carriers while delivering highquality service aligned with the companys values. The role manages new client implementations maintains contracts and documentation reviews benefits materials for accuracy and supports clients with ongoing service issues.


The Account Manager position consists of two key elements:

Representing People Corporation externally to our clients and our vendors/carriers.

Performing job duties in an appropriate manner that accurately reflects People Corporations core behaviors and values.

The Account Manager will:

  • Develop and maintain project plans.

  • Maintain all documentation for clients contracts booklets collective agreements.

  • Request and review contract amendments.

  • Review contract and employee booklets for accuracy.

  • Function as an advocate on behalf of our clients in the group benefits marketplace and position People Corporation as an expert intermediary in the marketplace.

  • Attend regular service meetings with clients.

  • Complete minutes and action items from client meeting/conference calls. Ensure all follow up action items are complete including any necessary follow ups with the consultant and analyst assigned to the account.

  • Prepare communication material and customized individual packages for each employee as required.

  • Conduct employee meetings confirm the parameters of this task with your manager.

  • Inform clients on new industry initiatives and trends.

  • Handle day to day service issues and escalated service issues.

  • Assist with financial reporting as requested by the consultant and/or analyst (particularly during busy renewal season)


Client Relationship Management

  • Be responsive to client concerns.

  • Prioritize workload and other special projects.

  • Communicate effectively with our clients in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Demonstrate to clients that People Corporation adds value to their benefit program.

Provider Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain good relationships with all carriers and providers.

  • Liaise with carriers/providers to effectively manage our client accounts.

  • Build People Corporations reputation as an industry leader in the group benefits marketplace and in particular in the public sector.

Ongoing Customer Service (internal & external)

  • Work as a key part of a client-centric team service approach.

  • Participate in internal meetings with practice leader and other staff to review workload and systemic challenges/issues.

  • Understand PCs corporate objectives

  • Strive for high client retention.

  • Ensure internal policies and procedures (peer review privacy and turnaround) are followed.

  • Adhere to established (internal) customer service standards.

Sales/Prospect Management (as required)

  • Participate in the sales/prospect process including assisting with proposal submissions and up to participation in finalist interviews.

  • Prospect existing clients for referrals for new business (i.e. new benefits new divisions).

Continuous Learning

  • Participate in ongoing company sponsored education to keep abreast of industry trends and opportunities.

  • Look towards continuous education within group insurance industry to further develop professional skills and knowledge.

  • Keep abreast of available products services and partnerships that have been developed through or are available to People Corporation.

  • Effective communication skills including verbal non-verbal and written.

  • Judgment and critical thinking skills.

  • Effective negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
