Job Summary

Sunnybrook Research Institute is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support an ongoing clinical research project. This casual position is well suited for a Bachelors-level graduate with relevant experience and a strong interest in clinical data collection REDCap database development and EMR-based research.

The successful candidate will play a key role in building and maintaining a REDCap database using data extracted from Sunnybrooks electronic medical record (EMR) system ensuring accurate and high-quality data capture to support research objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design build and maintain a REDCap database in accordance with study protocols and data requirements
  • Extract review and abstract clinical data from Sunnybrooks EMR system
  • Perform data entry cleaning validation and quality assurance checks
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and supporting documentation
  • Ensure accuracy completeness and integrity of study data
  • Collaborate with investigators and research staff to address data queries and updates
  • Adhere to Sunnybrook policies research ethics guidelines and data privacy requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field (e.g. Health Sciences Epidemiology Public Health Clinical Research Biostatistics) Masters Degree an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with REDCap (database build and/or management)
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical data abstraction
  • Strong analytical organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage large datasets
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hospital-based or academic clinical research
  • Familiarity with research ethics (REB) confidentiality and data governance standards
  • Experience supporting data-intensive research studies
