Position Summary:
As an essential member of the Laboratory Medicine Program at UHN the Scientific Associate will organize track and work primarily with staff pathologists AI scientists and study teams to assess oncological specimens and histological slides for research projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in cutting-edge clinical research at UHN.
Duties:
- Compile data from related and/or unrelated sources.
- Perform complex histological analyses and experiments.
- Use extensive knowledge of pathology to annotate slides from a variety of tissue sites for downstream dissection and genomic analysis.
- Use digital pathology tools for interpretation and annotation of whole slide images.
- Communicate with stakeholders across UHN nationally and maintain records of experimental data.
- Have the opportunity to contribute to independent research projects
- Present at scientific meetings.
Qualifications :
- MD or Graduate degree in Life Sciences Pathology or other related field is required.
- Strong knowledge of Pathology Immunohistochemistry and analysis of H&E slides.
- Course work in human anatomy physiology microscopy and molecular biology preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in human diseases such as cancer
- Proficient in medical terminology
- Six (6) months related research or technical experience
- Self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving abilities
- Effective organizational time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Client service experience an asset
