Job Summary

  • Completion of the 10th school grade supplemented by experience in the operation of equipment assigned to the position or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Must be City of Edmonton trained and certified to operate a Skid Steer / Toolcat
  • Will be required to successfully complete in-house Combination Unit Certification training requirements upon appointment

Asset:

  • Current Class D City of Edmonton driving permit

Skills required for Success:

  • Thorough knowledge of the equipment used and ability to operate the equipment skillfully
  • Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform the work of this position
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods practices and rules of the safe operation of the assigned equipment and occupational hazards applicable to the work
  • Good knowledge of the methods and practices used in servicing and maintaining equipment operated
  • Ability to respond to inquiries/complaints in a manner that is conciliatory and sensitive to the needs of the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively with citizens team and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a productive and efficient team

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid Alberta Class 3 drivers licence with Air Brakes Endorsement. Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
  • Must possess a current Class C-NSC City of Edmonton driving permit

As an Equipment Operator II you will operate and perform maintenance on a variety of equipment utilised for small scale Open Space Construction projects.

What will you do

  • Operate 3-ton Single Axle Dump Truck with a Trailer
  • Operate a 5-ton Tandem Truck
  • Operate a Skid Steer / Toolcat with Loader attachments
  • Operate Tractors
  • Deliver and haul material to and from construction job sites
  • Load tandem trucks with fill material
  • Operate various machinery and equipment to perform general landscaping duties
  • Finish grade work with Skid Steer
  • Maintain and Grease equipment on a daily basis
  • Perform record keeping
  • Perform other related labour duties as required
