Summary
Will conduct independent and collaborative research contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the development of innovative solutions. The fellow will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and collaborate with a team of researchers.

Essential Functions
-Design plan and execute research experiments or projects in alignment with departmental goals.
-Gather analyze and interpret data using appropriate statistical methods and tools.
-Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to inform research direction and methodologies.
-Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and seminars.
-Work collaboratively with faculty students and other researchers contributing to a positive research environment.
-Mentor graduate and undergraduate students providing guidance on research methodologies and techniques.
-Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and funding applications to support ongoing research.
-Prepare periodic reports and documents summarizing research progress and outcomes.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Proposes and undertakes a mentored innovative project or challenge to develop novel molecular therapies for retinal degenerative diseases. Designs and performs in vitro and animal experiments analyzes and presents the outcome.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Read analyze and summarize published literature
- Design and execute in vitro and in vivo
- Undertake relevant coursework if required by mentor.
- Attend relevant meetings
- Meet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestones
- Plan and deliver a seminar on the project
- Take administrative (inventory purchasing etc. ) responsibilities in the lab when necessary
- Write a final report or submit a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal describing the project and results
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) with more than 1 year of lab experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Lab setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possible lifting of 10 to 20 lbs. depending on nature of chosen project(s).
