Job Summary

Responsibilities
Develop and implement the organizations credit strategy policies and procedures to ensure effective credit risk management.
Lead and manage the credit department providing guidance mentorship and performance oversight to the credit team.
Review assess and approve high-value or complex credit applications in line with risk appetite and company policies.
Monitor the organizations credit portfolio to ensure acceptable levels of risk and maintain strong portfolio quality.
Establish credit risk frameworks scoring models and financial assessment methodologies.
Ensure timely and accurate credit analysis including financial statement review cash flow analysis and risk evaluation.
Work closely with sales finance and executive leadership to support business growth while maintaining prudent credit controls.
Oversee credit limits exposure monitoring and collection strategies to minimize bad debt and financial loss.
Develop and maintain credit governance structures including credit committees and approval hierarchies.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements internal policies and industry best practices.
Produce and present credit risk reports and portfolio performance updates to executive management and the board.
Identify emerging credit risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect the organizations financial position.
Oversee the management of non-performing loans or delinquent accounts including restructuring and recovery strategies.
Drive continuous improvement within the credit function through process optimization technology adoption and data analytics.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders financial institutions and external partners where required.
Ensure proper documentation audit readiness and transparency across all credit processes.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Finance Accounting Economics Business Administration or a related field.
A postgraduate qualification such as an MBA Masters in Finance or Risk Management is highly advantageous.
Professional certifications such as CFA FRM CPA CA(SA) or similar financial qualifications are advantageous.
Minimum of 10 15 years of experience in credit risk management banking financial services or corporate credit.
At least 5 7 years of experience in a senior leadership or management role within a credit or risk function.
Demonstrated experience managing large credit portfolios and complex credit transactions.
Strong understanding of financial analysis credit risk assessment and lending principles.
Experience working within regulated financial environments and strong knowledge of compliance requirements.
Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Experience working with credit risk systems financial modelling tools and portfolio monitoring platforms.
