Job Summary

Role: Sr. Azure Data Engineer

Location: Atlanta GA (Hybrid)

Type: Contract

Job Summary:

Seeking a highly skilled Sr Azure Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data lakehouse and data warehouse solutions on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Azure Databricks Azure Synapse and Azure Data Factory along with experience leading enterprise cloud data migration and modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge of Data Warehousing and Lakehouse
Architect and implement Azure-based Data Lakehouse solutions
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using ADF
Lead on-prem to Azure cloud data migrations
Build batch and real-time ingestion pipelines (Event Hub preferred)
Mentor team members and collaborate with business stakeholders

Required Skills:

10 years of Data Engineering experience
Strong hands-on experience with:
Azure Synapse Analytics
Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
Proficiency in PySpark and SQL
Experience with data modeling and performance tuning
CI/CD experience in Azure DevOps
Strong communication and leadership skills
Must be onsite at the client in Atlanta GA 3 days/wk

Good to Have:

Azure Databricks (PySpark Spark SQL)
Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
Ensure data governance security (RBAC Azure AD) and monitoring
Design dimensional data models (Star/Snowflake schemas)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with real-time streaming (Event Hub Kafka or similar)
Power BI or other BI platform experience
Azure or Databricks certifications
Experience in Financial Services

Soft skills:

Communication directly working with business
Not giving in to everything business asks and be able to stand their ground
Skills on Databricks are a plus thats the future roadmap for Bank
