Can go stronger engineering but data cloud and marketing cloud expertise is a must but dont need to be a salesforce admin . If they dont have snowflake/data transfers/ingestions etc. not going to work.
Role summary
We are seeking a hands-on Data Cloud expert to drive enablement operations and technical delivery across our audience personalization and lifecycle marketing programs. This role will diagnose and fix data quality issues build scalable segmentation and calculated insights and ensure reliable activation from Data Cloud into Marketing Cloud - with strong engineering rigor and modern AI-assisted development practices.
You will be accountable for validating outcomes (counts suppression logic segment membership send eligibility) and restoring confidence in delivery quality.
Core responsibilities
1) Data quality and activation integrity (highest priority)
- Identify root causes of invalid email addresses flowing from Data Cloud to Marketing Cloud even when segment rules should exclude them.
- Implement robust validation controls:
- Email format checks null/blank handling bounce and suppression alignment
- Consent and contactability rules
- Pre-activation sendability gates and automated QA checks
- Prove fixes with reproducible validation: before/after counts sample audits and documented logic.
2) Segmentation buildout and validation
- Build an Alaska affinity segment plus a family flag using Data Cloud (and downstream activation).
- Ensure segment logic is explainable testable and measurable:
- Attribute sources refresh cadence edge cases and membership drift monitoring
- Validate segment counts end-to-end (Data Cloud -> activation -> Marketing Cloud audience).
3) Calculated Insights for Q2 2026 personalization
- Deliver and operationalize Calculated Insights such as:
- Short voyage flag
- Booking window category (Early/Standard/Last Minute)
- Total voyages completed
- Align definitions with stakeholders implement in Data Cloud and activate cleanly to Marketing Cloud for personalization.
4) Process automation for operational scale
- Implement an automated Experience Ambassador profile sender details process:
- Trigger logic data retrieval templating and reliable send execution
- Instrumentation and alerts for failures and data mismatches
5) Past guest data extension for lifecycle personalization
- Create a Marketing Cloud Data Extension of all past guests to support:
- Cruise anniversaries birthdays winback loyalty journeys
- Set up repeatable refresh dedupe and contactability enforcement.
What you will own day-to-day
- Data Cloud enablement and operations: ingestion modeling identity segmentation activation monitoring
- Marketing Cloud technical operations: data extensions automations journeys email deliverability safeguards
- Ticket execution with high rigor: requirements implementation QA UAT support documentation handoff
Must-have technical skills (non-negotiable)
Data Cloud
- Deep experience with Salesforce Data Cloud: data streams mapping/harmonization identity resolution segmentation activation
- Strong command of Calculated Insights design and performance considerations
- Data debugging across source -> Data Cloud -> activation targets
Marketing Cloud
- Strong experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- SQL proficiency for segmentation and data extension work
- Automation Studio patterns: refreshes file drops query activities error handling
- Scripting capability: AMPscript and/or SSJS (preferred) plus template personalization logic
- Deliverability-aware engineering: suppression bounce handling sender reputation protection
Engineering rigor
- Ability to validate counts are correct with reproducible methods:
- Sampling reconciliation test cases logging audit tables
- API and data movement skills (as needed): REST/SOAP SFTP patterns event-driven triggers
- Version control and release discipline: Git workflows code review environment promotion
Nice to have: AI-assisted development
- Comfortable using agentic AI coding tools to accelerate:
- SQL and scripting development
- Test-case generation
- Root cause analysis hypotheses and log parsing
