Shore Educational Collaborative was established in 1975 as one of 24 educational collaboratives in Massachusetts providing public special education to students with disabilities. Over 180 students aged 3-22 attend our school in Chelsea receiving a comprehensive education and related services.

TheRegistered Occupational Therapistprovides services to students with fine motor visual motor/visual perception and sensory motor skills which will allow them to access the Shores curriculum and to participate in both school and community life to the greatest extent possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered occupational therapist who desires to serve where their efforts matter. Our programs serve studentswho have multiple and intensive medical disabilities developmental disabilities autism and/orbehavioral and social/emotional OTR/L will work within a team of related service providers providing direct services to students and consultative services to educators other related services staff and families. Responsibilities will also include writing IEP goals and objectives and completing progress reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Occupational Therapists will assess students referred for evaluation using appropriate testing instruments.
  • Occupational Therapists will write reports that reflect the results of standardized tests and observations that contain information helpful and understandable to all involved parties and that contain clear recommendations.
  • Evaluations will be performed within timelines established in state and federal regulations.
  • Therapy and consultation services will be provided to students based on the individual needs of each student and in compliance with each childs IEP.
  • Occupational Therapists will participate in pre-referral Team Meetings and Student Support Team activities and will provide professional development to school-based staff as requested.
  • Occupational Therapists will consult with other Related Services providers teachers and parents in order to provide effective services in a variety of settings.
  • Occupational Therapists are to comply with state regulations concerning renewal of certifications and licenses.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Occupational Therapy license in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

All school staff who may be expected to manage behavior must obtain and maintain certification in Shores approved behavioral safety training program (Safety Care or equivalent). These skills are essential to ensuring the safety of all program participants and staff and to meet state and federal requirements related to the safe implementation of behavior intervention plans.
