Job Summary

Patent Associate ( Title differs based on the experience)

: IP- Patent Associate

Location: Saint-Gobain Research India (SGRI) Chennai Tamil Nadu India (On-site)

EXP: 2-7 years

Designation: Patent Associate

We seek to hire a Patent Associate to be a part of Saint-Gobain patent team located at SGRI Chennai and work with the team to protect Saint-Gobain innovations. You will work with the business and the R&D team to build and purposefully prosecute the associated worldwide patent portfolio and strategy. This includes identifying patentable inventions; securing high-quality & strategic patent assets; providing expert technical and legal analysis; handling patent challenges; reviewing work performed by outside law firms; and working with R&D and business to understand priorities and challenges. This position further envisioned in providing support for enforcement and litigation activities in India.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Preparing IP opinions (patentability FTO invalidity)
Providing insightful analysis of search results from various sources
Keep an eye on technology competition and geography through patent watches and disseminating the insights from patent watches to R&D and Business
Drafting patent specifications
Drafting and handling response to office actions in India and overseas and all other compliance requirements as per the applicable patent law.
Assisting in patent oppositions and providing technical support to the enforcement activities through research and analysis of recent cases etc.
Applying & obtaining design registrations in India

Educational Background:

Master’s in science Bachelor or Master degree in Chemical and Materials Engineering from premier academic institutions.

Desired skills & Experience:

In-depth knowledge in preparing and prosecuting patent applications spanning between 2-7 years in R&D/law firm set up.
Patent Agent Registration with the Indian Patent Office (Preferable)
Excellent command over the English language (written & verbal)
