RATE OF PAY: $1667.50 per week
JOB TERM: Ten (10) Months (August 2026 June 2027)

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Articling Student plays a key role in supporting ONTCs Legal and Professional Services team. This position offers hands-on experience in legal research document preparation legal drafting contract review client communication and file management within a busy dynamic in-house legal department at our corporate head office in North Bay Ontario. The Articling Program provides exposure to a broad range of legal matters and supports candidates in fulfilling the experiential training competencies established by the Law Society of Ontario.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the legal work of a busy dedicated legal department
Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of matters
Assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents contracts policies and memoranda
Support counsel in contract negotiations hearings presentations to government officials senior executives and third parties
Prepare materials for the Commission (Board of Directors) and assist with corporate governance matters
Review legislation regulations and policy materials and prepare briefing notes and memoranda
Participate in meetings and training opportunities
Carry out other duties related to legal services as assigned
Examples of the areas of legal exposure may include but are not limited to: commercial law corporate law real estate law employment and labour law privacy law transportation regulations and various federal and provincial statutes affecting a Crown Agency.

REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be registered as a candidate in the Law Society of Ontarios Lawyer Licensing Process.
Must hold a Bachelor of Law degree (that is: Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent) at the time of appointment.
Strong legal research writing and analytical skills
Sound judgement professionalism and attention to detail
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a team environment
Good work ethic energetic and enthusiastic
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent English oral and written communication skills
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Must be committed to Company Health and Safety
Knowledge of Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and video platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
