About the Client
Our client is a leading healthcare and medical insurance provider based in Sandton renowned for its strong governance risk management and compliance culture. They are seeking a Compliance Monitoring Officer to join their Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) team to support assurance activities and monitor regulatory compliance across the Scheme.
Job Purpose
To provide independent assurance by reviewing operational and regulatory compliance processes practices and documents evaluating adherence and ensuring that compliance risks—both operational and regulatory—are effectively assessed and monitored. Serve as a trusted advisor to the 1st line of defence while maintaining independence of mind as part of the 2nd line of defence.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Management
- Maintain review and enhance the compliance framework including policies manuals templates and related processes.
- Advise the business on regulatory and operational compliance risks to enable implementation of compliant processes and policies.
- Facilitate discussions on emerging compliance issues at relevant business forums.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit External Audit and service providers to oversee controls that prevent or detect violations of legislation or policy.
- Support POPI Act compliance and ensure all data protection measures are adhered to.
- Monitor and report on compliance risks through Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs) aligned to the annual Risk and Compliance Coverage Plan.
- Maintain awareness of high-risk legislation affecting medical schemes and related regulatory changes.
Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
- Execute annual Risk and Compliance Coverage Plans including assurance reviews.
- Assess operational controls document findings and report on non-compliance issues.
- Recommend corrective actions policy updates and process improvements.
- Prepare working papers draft reports and present findings to GRC stakeholders.
- Support the creation of a compliance-aware culture throughout the Scheme.
Qualifications & Certifications
- Post Graduate Diploma in Compliance Management Risk Management or Internal Auditing (Essential)
- Compliance Practitioner (CPrac SA) designation Certificate in Compliance Management (Essential)
- IIA certifications (Internal Auditing / Risk Management) (Preferred)
- LLB or equivalent Legal Qualification (Preferred)
Experience & Skills
- 3–5 years: Compliance management experience preferably in financial services or medical schemes
- 1–2 years: Audit practices and methodology experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance legislation medical scheme rules and risk management principles
- Expertise in assurance reviews quality control and compliance monitoring
- Competent in stakeholder management reporting and problem-solving
- MS Office Suite proficiency; excellent verbal written and presentation skills
