A Brief Overview
Delivers direct and indirect care to patients in an office setting utilizing the nursing process of assessment planning intervention implementation and evaluation in coordination with other health team members. Effectively interacts with the patient significant others and other health team members while maintaining high standards of professionalism. Provides high quality care to a variety of patient populations. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide high quality care and adherence to department policies and procedures/guidelines.
What you will do
- Monitor and evaluate all aspects of patient care to ensure optimal health outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Maintain accurate detailed reports and records.
- Instruct and educate patients and caregivers on a variety of topics including but not limited to disease management medication use and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with care team members to efficiently manage tasks such as referrals prior authorization phone calls results notification and medication refills.
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations and treatments.
- Monitor assess and report symptoms and changes in patient conditions.
- Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess plan implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients responses conditions and socioeconomic factors.
- Prepare and administer medications appropriately as ordered by the provider utilizing the 5 rights of medication administration
- Collect and perform specified laboratory testing
- Adherence to infection control programs advising and consulting with necessary personnel regarding precautions and PPE.
- Provide guidance and supervision to less skilled nursing or other health care personnel.
- Clean patient rooms equipment and supplies between each use. Ensure that adequate supply inventory is maintained for quality care.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse:
- Associates Degree (AA) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required
- Bachelors Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
- 1-3 years Health care experience Preferred
- Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
- Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association within 60 Days Required
- Registered Nurse Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) (United States of America) Upon Hire Required
LPN:
- One Year Certificate from College or Tech School Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required
- 1-3 years Health care experience Preferred
- Licensed Practical Nurse Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) (United States of America) Required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association within 60 Days Required
- Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
- Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
CMA:
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants Required
- 1-3 years experience in a medical office Preferred
