The Student Support Coach works directly with students to support their social-emotional development behavioral growth and academic engagement. This role focuses on coaching students in developing self-regulation problem-solving and responsible decision-making skills.



The Student Support Coach provides targeted support to students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within the schools Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. This position collaborates closely with teachers families and the Student Support Team to ensure students receive consistent restorative and relationship-centered support that promotes success in the classroom and across the school community.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the development implementation and monitoring of student success plans for students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within the MTSS framework
  • Coach students in developing self-regulation conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Guide students in reflecting on choices accepting responsibility for actions repairing harm and creating plans for restoration and future success
  • Work directly with students individually and in small groups to support social-emotional skill development and positive behavioral outcomes
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to address behavioral emotional and social needs that impact student learning
  • Monitor student progress related to behavioral emotional and mental health concerns and communicate updates with the Student Support Team
  • Build strong partnerships with families and engage parents/guardians as partners in supporting student growth and success
  • Reinforce school-wide expectations and provide real-time coaching and positive reinforcement across school settings (e.g. Student Success Center playground hallways cafeteria dismissal)
  • Maintain accurate student documentation and records (e.g. incident reports student success plans behavior documentation)
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Team to review student data and determine appropriate supports and next steps

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 60 college credit hours
  • Experience working with children or youth in a school or youth-serving setting
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability and experience in supporting students in developing self-regulation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work Education Psychology Counseling or a related field
  • Experience supporting students within an MTSS
  • Knowledge of or experience with restorative practices in schools
  • Experience supporting student social-emotional learning and behavior development
  • Previous training with Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
  • Familiarity with Conscious Discipline Responsive Classroom or similar relationship-centered practices
