The Opportunity
Cordova is seeking a high-impact Application Transformation Leader to serve as a pivotal bridge between business ambition and technological execution. This is a high-visibility strategic role designed for a visionary who can shape IT and Application strategy ensuring technology decisions align with enterprise standards for Core Modernization and M&A activity.
You will be responsible for setting the early direction of complex technology initiatives making critical application decisions and seamlessly transitioning execution to domain-aligned product platform and engineering teams. This role requires a unique blend of deep financial systems expertise and the executive presence to influence stakeholders at the highest levels.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Technology Leadership
Core Modernization: Define the roadmap for target-state application landscapes making high-stakes decisions to retain retire refactor or replace legacy systems.
Modernization Patterns: Ensure all solutions follow established API-first and cloud-native guardrails.
Architecture Oversight: Partner with Architects to guide decoupling renovation and replacement strategies defining the sequencing for interim-state architectures.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Strategy
Technical Due Diligence: Lead the technology and application-focused due diligence for potential acquisitions assessing overlap and financial systems complexity.
Integration Roadmap: Define Day 0 / Day 1 / Day 100 application strategies and set the direction for application consolidation.
Work Stream Leadership: Lead the Technology Work Stream through Legal Day 1 ensuring a smooth handoff to long-term post-close owners.
Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management
Trusted Advisor: Act as a partner to business leaders translating M&A objectives and business strategy into clear actionable technology direction.
Inorganic Growth Alignment: Partner with Banking and Strategy teams to ensure the IT roadmap supports growth opportunities such as branch strategy and partnership expansions.
Executive Communication: Distill complex technology topics into business-relevant terms to enable timely well-informed decision-making.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience & Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.
Experience: 10 years of progressive experience in application development and large-scale modernization.
Industry Expertise: Deep knowledge of financial applications (core banking payments lending and digital solutions).
M&A Proficiency: Proven experience with acquisition integration and technical due diligence is highly preferred.
Cloud Mastery: Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures APIs and modern integration patterns.
Key Competencies
Influence: Ability to collaborate effectively across LRC (Legal Risk Compliance) InfoSec and Business Leadership.
Vendor Governance: Experience overseeing investment decisions and vendor partnerships to advance platform capabilities.
