Job Summary
Role: FHIR Data Analyst
Location: Newark NJ Travel to office 2-4 times a month.
FHIR Data Analyst (Hands-On Implementation)
- Serve as a hands-on analyst on FHIR implementation initiatives supporting design build testing and deployment of FHIR-based data solutions
- Analyse healthcare data domains (e.g. Member Eligibility Coverage Claims Prior Authorization Clinical data) and map them to appropriate FHIR resources and profiles
- Interpret and apply FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) such as payer provider or regulatory IGs (e.g. US Core Da Vinci CARIN) to implementation work
- Create and maintain FHIR mappings resource definitions extensions and value set bindings
- Collaborate with architects and developers on FHIR API design payload structure search parameters and versioning strategies
- Validate FHIR conformance using tools such as FHIR validators test servers and reference implementations
- Support data quality normalization and transformation efforts between source systems and FHIR endpoints
- Participate in end-to-end testing including unit integration and UAT ensuring alignment with IG requirements and business use cases
- Produce high-quality documentation including data mappings FHIR resource specifications conformance notes and test scenarios
- Act as a subject matter expert for FHIR-related questions across technical and business teams
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of healthcare data or systems analysis experience with at least 2 years focused on FHIR implementations
- Demonstrated hands-on experience delivering real FHIR projects (not just conceptual knowledge)
- Strong understanding of HL7 FHIR R4 resources profiles extensions value sets and terminology services
- Proven experience working with FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) and applying them to production solutions
- Experience with healthcare data standards such as HL7 v2 CDA X12 and mapping them to FHIR
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs JSON and API testing tools (e.g. Postman)
- Ability to work closely with engineers while independently owning data analysis and mapping work
- Strong documentation communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
