Description:
Position Purpose
This position is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care to the adult patient under the direct supervision of a physician during Electrophysiology procedures. Working closely with the electrophysiologist cardiologist cardiac nurses and other healthcare staff to ensure safe and effective patient care during procedures such as cardiac ablations pacemakers ep study loop recorder tilt table and watchmen procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in invasive cardiology procedures hemodynamic and patient monitoring patient education use of radiological imaging equipment set up of sterile fields.
- Assists and performs technical procedures on patients of all ages particularly adults.
- Assist in assuring all necessary equipment is sterile functioning and ready for use during procedures. This includes monitoring devices catheters and defibrillators.
- Perform routine checks on electrophysiology equipment.
Physical Demands:
- The role can be physically demanding requiring the ability to stand for long periods of time lift equipment wear lead for radiation protection and assist with patient handling.
- Staff may be exposed to stressful situations during high-stakes procedures requiring focus and calm under pressure.
- The role will come with the expectation of learning both the nurse circulating roles as well as scrub roles.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduates preferred. 3-5 years nursing experience required. Cardiac/ Critical Care experience preferred.
- Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in Connecticut.
- Certification: BLS (AHA/ARC) & ACLS certifications required.
