Position Title: Specialty Nurse Med Surg - Advanced RN (IA)
Department: Nursing Clinical Support Staff

Schedule:

  • hr shifts per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Holiday rotation

General Duties:
The Advanced RN will work in the float pool to provide support to nursing units in which they have competencies to independently deliver nursing care to patients.

  • Assesses plans
  • Implements and evaluates patients care and condition based upon observation examination andother pertinent information
  • Completes assessment in specified time frame
  • Identifies and consistentlyrecognizes changes in normal and abnormal parameters in the patients physiological psychologicalcultural developmental and spiritual needs
  • Implements nursing interventions to achieve progresstoward expected patient outcomes or to stabilize a patients condition and/or prevent complications
  • Evaluates and documents patients response to nursing care and modifies or revises treatment plansand/or contacts physicians as circumstances require Participates in interdisciplinary patient careplanning and evaluates patient progression in preparation for safe discharge
  • Identifies and completesassessments of patient (family) educational needs Provides education consistent with patients level ofunderstanding using existing resources based on diagnosis treatment plan or prescribed medical regimen

The Specialty Nurse Med Surg Advanced RN will be responsible for the following:

Clinical Duties 75%

Professional Duties 15%

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide a high level of nursing care in units to which assigned.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process.
  • Facilitate clinical skill and knowledge acquisition for nursing students assigned to the RN/the RNs patient care area for clinical academic program course requirements and experience.

Administrative Duties 10%

  • Schedules assigns and coordinates work.
  • Checks the quality of work and provides guidance instruction training and direction to others.


General Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree
  • Field OF Study: Nursing
  • Special Training: ACLS; Basic Life Support; Minimum of 2 years experience in nursing
  • Training Preferred: ANCC Certified in Medical-Surgical Nursing or related field
  • Licensures/Registration: Registered Nurse in Iowa and/or Illinois
  • Experience: More than 2 years experience required
