Medical Officer

Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive medical care to employees contract workers and dependents at the mining site; ensure compliance with occupational health and mining statutory requirements; manage emergency medical response; and promote health hygiene and preventive care to maintain a healthy and productive workforce.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical & Emergency Medical Services

• Provide outpatient medical care diagnosis and treatment to employees contract workers and dependents.
• Handle medical emergencies trauma cases and occupational injuries arising out of mining operations.
• Coordinate referral of critical cases to higher medical centers and ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain medical records prescriptions and treatment history.

2. Occupational Health & Mining Statutory Compliance

• Conduct pre-employment periodical and exit medical examinations as per Mines Act DGMS and statutory guidelines.
• Monitor occupational health hazards such as dust exposure noise vibration and ergonomics.
• Identify cases of occupational diseases and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
• Ensure maintenance of statutory medical registers and records as per Mines Rules.

3. Health Surveillance & Preventive Care

• Plan and implement health surveillance programs for mine workers.
• Conduct periodic health camps vaccination drives and awareness programs (e.g. silicosis TB hypertension diabetes).
• Promote hygiene sanitation nutrition and fitness among employees and contract workers.

4. Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Management

• Develop and implement on-site medical emergency response plans.
• Coordinate mock drills first-aid training and emergency preparedness programs.
• Ensure availability and readiness of ambulances emergency equipment and medicines.

5. Medical Infrastructure & Pharmacy Management

• Ensure proper functioning of the site hospital/dispensary first-aid centers and medical rooms.
• Manage medical inventory including medicines consumables equipment and emergency kits.
• Ensure proper storage and dispensing of medicines as per norms.

6. Employee Welfare & Fitness for Work

• Assess fitness for duty return-to-work cases and special assignments.
• Provide medical inputs for leave disability compensation and insurance claims.
• Support management on employee health-related welfare initiatives.

7. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with Safety HR Administration and Operations teams on health and occupational safety matters.
• Liaise with government hospitals medical authorities and regulatory agencies as required.
• Prepare medical MIS statutory reports and health analytics for management review
