A vacancy has arisen for a Squadron Leader or Flight Lieutenant to serve as Marketing Officer in the new Armed Forces Recruitment Headquarters at MOD Abbey Wood (North) Bristol on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 27 July 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status). Routine attendance of 60% in office is requested.
This is a superb opportunity to fill a vital role within the newly formed Armed Forces Recruiting Marketing Team to support creation and delivery of Armed Forces Recruitment Marketing alongside our Supplier (Serco).
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the new team that will transform recruiting into a Tri-Service enterprise. The new post will be one of the few military roles supporting advising and facilitating Armed Forces recruitment marketing. The role will become OF3 only in subsequent appointments affording any OF2 applicants experience and KSE with the opportunity to later progress.
This new role requires a dynamic individual that is comfortable in creating new and improved processes and ways of working outside previous constraints. The incumbent requires excellent stakeholder engagement skills as a key enabler to successful delivery of the marketing strategy.
Responsible for:
- Supporting the delivery of the annual marketing strategy.
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with single service staff and agency staff to plan and deliver the marketing strategy.
- Liaising with single service HQs to ensure alignment of marketing with Single Service brands.
- Working with single services and Head Office SMEs to plan and resource inspiring and authentic content to support both drumbeat and large-scale campaigns.
- Supporting the strategic planning of recruitment outreach activity including synchronisation with single service engagement plans and the integration of marketing resources.
- Identifying opportunities to improve recruitment marketing.
- If an SO2 is selected they will act as Line Manager to 2x SO3 Marketing Coordination posts
- Deputise for SO1 Marketing Strategy where required.
