As a Senior Design Validation Manager you will be part of a highly motivated and dynamic engineering team responsible for the validation and approval of high-voltage transformer designs (HVAC and HVDC 132kV). The successful candidate will provide strategic technical leadership owning electrical design validation activities leading design reviews and ensuring designs meet customer requirements internal standards and project delivery commitments.Job Description
As a Senior Design Validation Manager this role requires deep electrical design expertise with hands-on experience in high-voltage systems modelling and simulations. You will lead technical discussions with internal teams and external customers influencing design decisions driving engineering best practices and ensuring alignment of designs with long-term business and operational objectives. The position also includes mentoring engineers defining validation processes and constructively challenging existing approaches to improve product quality reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Lead and take ownership of electrical design validation for high-voltage transformers (132kV) in HVAC and HVDC applications.
Serve as the key technical authority and decision-maker for electrical design approvals.
Lead technical design reviews including electrical system-level design Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other electrical simulations.
Conduct and lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Critical to Quality (CTQ) reviews.
Engage directly with customers and participate in technical design discussions design reviews and troubleshooting activities.
Influence design strategies standards and engineering best practices across teams and projects.
Mentor engineers and provide guidance on electrical design principles and validation processes.
Ensure specifications component selection and design decisions meet internal standards customer requirements and industry regulations.
Support cross-functional collaboration with engineering project management manufacturing and supply chain teams to deliver projects right-first-time on schedule and within budget.
Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes simulation methodologies and technical problem solving.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
Proven electrical design experience in high-voltage transformers (132kV) ideally in HVAC and HVDC applications.
Hands-on experience with electrical simulations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM) for transformer design.
Experience in leading teams or holding managerial responsibilities in an engineering environment.
Demonstrated experience interacting with customers during technical discussions and design reviews.
Strong analytical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills suitable for technical leadership and customer engagement.
Working knowledge of CAD tools (Inventor AutoCAD) and document management systems (Windchill or equivalent).
Desired Characteristics
Membership in industry organizations such as IEC or CIGRE.
Experience with offshore projects or HVDC systems.
Knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability considerations.
Ability to influence engineering decisions and drive technical improvements across global teams.
Experience in high-performing cross-functional global engineering environments.
Curiosity and willingness to challenge assumptions to improve engineering practices and product quality.
