Job Summary:
The Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) serves as the Chief Enrollment Officer for the University. The VPEM oversees the key enrollment areas of undergraduate graduate and international program recruitment admissions and enrollment; records and registration; and financial aid. The VPEM leads the development implementation and continuous refinement of a comprehensive data-informed Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) plan with measurable goals and key performance indicators (KPIs). The VPEM also creates a community of enrollment champions and advocates; supports enrollment marketing planning for the University and its multiple campus locations; and collaborates with the Universitys diverse communities to communicate the Universitys strengths and value. The VPEM provides leadership for a large complex and multifaceted institutional area and partners with Marketing and Communications Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to identify areas of collaboration that ensure Enrollment Management and the University are positioned for success.Job Description:
Oversees and supervises all programs within Enrollment Management such as graduate and undergraduate (new and transfer student) recruitment admissions and enrollment; international programs; records registration and financial aid; Coordinates and achieves integration across Enrollment Management areas in accordance with the Universitys mission values and strategic goals; Leads the Universitys Enrollment Management Council.
Leads the institution in planning implementing and evaluating new and transfer student enrollment strategies to meet the Universitys enrollment goals; Aligns enrollment goals with the Universitys budget and planning goals; Coordinates with Marketing and Communications in enrollment planning recruitment and promotion of the University to new transfer and returning students.
Achieves the Universitys enrollment retention and student success and graduation goals for all student populations; Develops specific strategies focused on adult learners part-time and non-traditional student populations; Seeks opportunities to strategically expand the Universitys recruitment range and opportunities.
Establishes clear enrollment retention persistence and completion benchmarks; Ensures accountability across Enrollment Management areas for achieving the Universitys enrollment goals and performance targets; Works with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs in support of student success retention and graduation at the Universitys main and multiple campus locations; Provides strategic leadership for online and hybrid enrollment growth.
Develops and manages community college partnerships and relationships advancing the recruitment admissions and enrollment of new and transfer students.
Conducts ongoing environmental scanning of demographic trends regional workforce demand and competitive positioning to proactively inform and adjust enrollment strategies; Provides market intelligence and competitive analysis to help inform academic program feasibility development and expansion decisions.
Manages the coordination and support of the Universitys Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and related/additional enrollment management systems (e.g. ERP systems).
Establishes performance expectations and customer service standards for each unit in Enrollment Management; Monitors and evaluates Enrollment Management areas against those standards.
Manages oversight and effective utilization of the Enrollment Management budget.
Provides leadership advice and guidance on enrollment issues to ensure compliance with state and federal mandates.
Serves as the Universitys representative on enrollment-related matters including information/action items and presentations to the Universitys governance boards and specifically to the Academic Affairs Student Affairs Enrollment and Technology (ASAET) Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Serves as the Universitys representative to external stakeholders including partner institutions community organizations and government entities on matters pertaining to enrollment strategy policy and outcomes.
Performs other duties necessary to accomplish the Universitys goals and objectives and/or assigned by the President in the role of Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Minimal Qualifications:
A Masters Degree from an accredited institution in higher education administration or related field; Minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in enrollment management.
Enrollment Expertise: Proven record of transformational and strategic leadership; Demonstrated knowledge skill and experience at the university level in Enrollment Management principles and practices; Expertise in undergraduate and graduate recruitment and admissions international admissions new and transfer admissions registration student records and financial aid; Evidence of increasing undergraduate and graduate enrollment student retention and success including for students of color adult learners part-time students online learners first-generation students veterans and students with disabilities.
Strategic Leadership: Strong experience in executive level organizational leadership and decision making strategic planning personnel management creative problem solving conflict resolution and management of complex budgets; Ability to lead in a team environment build consensus and drive and manage organizational change.
Mission and Student Focused: Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and opportunities of public urban comprehensive institutions; Extensive experience and proven record of recruiting retaining and supporting diverse populations of students; Demonstrated understanding of Hispanic Serving Institutions and Minority Serving Institutions; Experience in integrating enrollment management functions and aligning these functions with the institutions mission values and strategic goals; Knowledge of quality customer service practices.
Relational Leadership: Ability to lead effectively in a multi-campus environment and to build stakeholder collaboration in the development and implementation of enrollment strategies and planning; Aptitude in establishing rapport and building consensus in a shared governance and collective bargaining environment.
Data and Technology Informed: Aptitude and demonstrated use of data to inform analysis assess programs and processes develop goals and metrics and drive enrollment strategies; Experience in effectively leveraging new and emerging technologies to enhance process efficiencies increase customer service and advance enrollment efforts.
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal written and presentational skills. Ability to effectively engage and collaborate with various populations and constituents in support of the Universitys mission enrollment goals and student success.
OTHER INFORMATION:
The Vice President for Enrollment Management is a senior leadership position that requires regular in-person/on-campus attendance to meet the needs of the University and to foster strong and collaborative interactions across the University.
