Job Summary
The ACLU seeks an Undergraduate Multimedia Intern on the Multimedia Team in the Communications Department of the ACLUs National office in New York City. This internship can be remote or hybrid (based in New York City)
Qualifying applicants must currently be matriculated undergraduate students or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
The Team:
The ACLUMarketing andCommunications department createsmaintains and expands message narratives to engage our supporters and other target audiences to help protect and expand civil liberties and civil rightsand alsoillustrate the value and impact of the ACLUs transformational work. Through our messaging engagement with newsmakers our written video and audio storytelling and visual identity we encourage support for the ACLU andhelp to build a more perfect union.
What Youll Do:
TheMultimediainternis an integral member of theteamassistingwith production of the ACLUs in-house podcast as well as videos. Internswill conductresearch draftscriptsand paper edits transcribeand reviewinterview footage editvideosassist onshoots and interviews andparticipatein brainstorms and meetings.
Your Day to Day
- Podcast
- Work closelywithproducer andhostsof ACLUs in-house podcast
- Pitch topics andprovide background research foreachepisode
- Assistwithremote and in-person episode tapings
- Manage and edit podcast tapingtranscripts and prepare publish packaging for podcast episodes
- Video
- Research video topics draft scripts review and transcribe video footage
- Edit short videos for social media if able and help copyedit video content
- Assist with remote or in-person video recording sessions or photo shoots
What Youll Bring:
- Demonstrated interest in audio storytelling journalism and video production
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Experience with audio and video editing and experience working in an editorial environment preferred
- Able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize

Internship Logistics:
- Location: Our internship program offers a limited number of remote or hybrid intern positions. This internship is full-time remote or hybrid from our New York National office.
- Time Commitment: Full-time (35 hours/week)
- Internship Duration: Full-time internships span 10 consecutive weeks. This internship has a start date of:May 26th or June 8th
- Stipend:A stipend is available for students who are lawfully authorized to work. Arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit.
