Job Summary

70% - Graphic Design
  • Design engaging graphic based designs for print and digital use. This can include event/workshop marketing materials brand guides branded promotional items web designs posters banners flyers TV graphics PowerPoints and other marketing materials as needed.
  • Enhance andmaintainAcademic Success brand informed by Towering Toward the Blue brand standards ().Design swag and promotional materials for multiple units.
  • Conduct market and industry research to understandtargetaudiencesby obtainingknowledge of pastcurrentand future trends. Focusing ontrend-forecastingtocreategraphics that may not be sharedimmediately.
  • Understand and implement critiques and edits as necessary.
  • Work in collaboration with other Graphic Design Interns.
20% - Team Planning and Development
  • Participate in weekly Marketing Team meetings and brainstorming sessions related to the development of current and future marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the Digital Media Team (graphic design photo video social media).
  • Assistin the development of marketing campaigns to promote Academic Success initiativessuch as events and campaigns for multiple units.
10% - Professional Development
  • Complete assigned Professional Development courses/workshops.
  • Take part in creating projects outside of ticketed projects.
  • Attend networking events to expand your professional community.

  1. Previous experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Illustrator Photoshop and InDesign as demonstrated in application materials.
  2. Experience with Canva Figma Lightroom Premiere Pro and/or Adobe Express as demonstrated in application materials.
  3. Demonstrated visual design skills in brand identity as presented in application materials.
  4. Previous experience which required prioritizingtasks and projects independently and collaboratively to meet established deadlines as demonstrated in application materials.
  5. Previous work experience which required strong communication skills as demonstrated by application materials.
  6. Previous work experience which required focus and working on multiple projects simultaneously as demonstrated in application materials.
  7. Previous work experience which required flexibility in adjusting deadlines for deliverables throughout the creative process as demonstrated in application materials.
  8. Previous experience working both in office and remotely and maintainingavailablity to work on an as needed basis.


  1. Experience with Microsoft Office 365.
  2. Creative and innovative strategical thinking with the ability to understand marketing strategies for short-term and long-term campaigns as demonstrated in application materials.
  3. Previous work experience demonstrating knowledge of the principles and practices of digital in-person and print based marketing as demonstrated in application materials.
  4. Previous work experience demonstrating knowledge of management and planning strategies for design focused collaborative projects as demonstrated in application materials.
  5. Prior experience in digital media marketing.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
