Job Summary

A well-regarded secondary school in Brighton is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Teacher to join their Humanities department ASAP. This is a full-time teaching role offering an immediate start where you will deliver high-quality History lessons and inspire students to develop a deep understanding of the past.

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach History across Key Stages 3 4 and possibly Key Stage 5 providing students with the skills knowledge and analytical ability to excel academically and develop a lifelong interest in the subject.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging History lessons tailored to different Key Stages.

  • Preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations.

  • Assessing monitoring and reporting on student progress and achievement.

  • Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.

  • Supporting students through intervention mentoring and targeted support sessions.

  • Creating a positive classroom environment that encourages inquiry discussion and independent thinking.

  • Collaborating with department colleagues to develop schemes of work resources and best practices.

  • Participating in departmental meetings professional development and school-wide initiatives.

  • Promoting awareness of historical contexts critical thinking and understanding of current events as relevant to the curriculum.


Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Strong subject knowledge in History and familiarity with examination board specifications.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their potential.

  • Commitment to students academic and personal development.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a department and contribute to school initiatives.
