Learning Specialist - Law Firm

They are currently seeking a Learning Specialist to join their Information Technology team. This role is ideal for a learning and technology professional who is passionate about adult education enjoys working closely with users and thrives in a professional services environment.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology the Learning Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of education and training related to the firms technology solutions. The primary focus of this role is to develop maintain and deliver a comprehensive learning curriculum supporting the effective use of the firms core technology tools.
As a member of the IT department the Learning Specialist will also provide supplemental first-level help desk support and contribute to both minor initiatives and larger technology projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development
- Develop maintain and evolve the firms technology learning curriculum including:
- Onboarding programs for new hires
- Training for new technology solutions and software upgrades
- Education initiatives supporting new or evolving technology-driven processes
- Deliver blended learning solutions including:
- Classroom-based training
- Group presentations
- One-on-one coaching
- Webinars and virtual learning sessions
- Collaborate with practice group members Human Resources and professional development leaders to:
- Identify learning objectives
- Develop targeted learning plans for staff and lawyers
- Create engaging learning materials such as:
- Video tutorials
- Quick reference guides
- Job aids and other instructional resources
Technology & User Support
- Provide advanced support for Microsoft Office applications with a particular focus on:
- Troubleshooting complex formatting issues in Word documents
- Assisting with Excel spreadsheet design functionality and data manipulation
- Participate in the identification testing and rollout of new technology initiatives
- Provide ad hoc project coordination and assist with pilot testing as required
- Deliver level-one help desk support coverage when needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of related professional experience preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
- Post-secondary degree or certificate in a technology-related discipline and/or adult learning and development or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; familiarity with document management systems
- Microsoft Office Specialist certification is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and current training and development best practices
- Excellent presentation facilitation and public-speaking skills
- Enthusiastic high-energy and engaging style with the ability to motivate and inspire users at all levels of technical proficiency
