The Manager Learning Delivery serves as the strategic head of Learning & Development (L&D) for Valterra Platinum accountable for developing and implementing comprehensive learning strategies that align with organisational objectives Mining Charter requirements and Social & Labour Plan commitments.
This role drives the advancement of organisational capabilities through innovative learning solutions whilst ensuring maximum utilisation of skills development grants and resources. The position leads the transformation of learning and development practices to create a high-performance culture whilst meeting regulatory requirements and advancing Diversity Equity Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) objectives.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
1) Safety
Create a safety culture through productive and authorized operational systems/processes that allow all employees (including contracting partners) to provide their outputs in a risk-controlled environment. Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
2) Performance and Delivery
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Develop and implement the long-term learning and development strategy aligned with organisational objectives
- Formulate learning and development frameworks aligned with business strategy Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) vision and industry best practices
- Lead the development and implementation of the Learning & Development Social & Labour Plan aligned with Mining Charter requirements
- Lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of leadership development programmes across all levels of the organisation.
- Manage relationships with executive leadership to assess current and future workforce development needs
- Drive the implementation of high-performance culture initiatives through learning interventions
- Oversee cascading of performance objectives and Balanced Scorecard implementation across management levels
- Contribute to the development of People & Organisation Strategy aligned with national imperatives and regulatory frameworks
Financial Management & Compliance
- Develop and manage comprehensive learning and development budgets ensuring efficient resource allocation
- Maximise skills development grant utilisation through strategic planning
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative frameworks governing learning and development
- Sign off on internal and external regulatory reporting
- Consolidate People Development information for Company Annual Report
- Track and report Return on Investment (ROI) for training and development programmes
- Manage the submission and administration of workplace skills plans and annual training reports
Learning Innovation & Technology
- Lead selection and implementation of learning management systems and digital tools
- Drive integration of innovative learning technologies within company policy framework
- Ensure learning programmes align with adult learning principles and industry best practices
- Oversee design and delivery of blended learning solutions
- Guide implementation of virtual learning platforms where appropriate
- Collaborate on the development of learning and development systems integration with Information Technology business systems
Workforce Development
- Establish comprehensive workforce plans for learning pipelines
- Develop career development pathways frameworks
- Lead implementation of learnerships and skills programmes aligned with community development goals
- Create technical training programmes supporting strategic priorities
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development
- Drive Diversity Equity Inclusion & Belonging principles throughout learning initiatives
- Promote workplace coaching and mentoring programmes
3) People & Teams:
- Implement a purpose driven high performing culture that is aligned with the company values is inclusive and promotes diversity supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work processes.
4) Compliance:
- Develop required compliance governance in the context of the discipline on a business level.
- Ensure compliance to internal and external regulatory legislative and permitting requirements.
Qualifications :
- A relevant NQF 7 Bachelors degree/BTech /Advanced Diploma
- NQF 8 (Honours Degree/Postgraduate Diploma) qualification will be advantageous
- Professional registration with relevant bodies advantageous
- Skills Development Facilitator certification beneficial
- Valid EB/Code 08 drivers licence
Experience
- 7-10 years experience in Learning & Development
- Minimum 4 years in senior management role
- Mining industry experience highly advantageous
