The Systems Engineer provides engineering and project management support for multiple Depot Test Systems (DTS) and Automatic Test Systems (ATS) supporting aircraft systems and component repair operations. This role supports the 309 EMXG in the upgrade modification acquisition and integration of new equipment and software to enhance depot-level maintenance capabilities. The engineer will ensure technical compliance system performance and successful integration of new capabilities across complex test environments.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Support
- Provide engineering support for the upgrade and modification of multiple DTS platforms used in the repair of aircraft systems and components.
- Support the acquisition and integration of new hardware software and system capabilities.
- Review Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and comprehensive technical specifications to ensure alignment with desired operational capabilities.
- Incorporate applicable codes standards certification requirements performance metrics and required product features into engineering evaluations.
- Identify technical risks integration challenges and compliance gaps and provide recommended mitigation strategies.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Document findings in detailed technical reports in accordance with Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items.
- Assess technical data gaps during system evaluation or modification efforts.
- Develop and submit reverse engineering assessments and associated reports.
- Ensure all deliverables meet contractual regulatory and engineering quality standards.
Project & Program Participation
- Participate in and support a variety of program meetings and formal events including:
- Kick-off Meetings
- Weekly Status Meetings
- Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)
- Program Management Reviews (PMRs)
- Design Reviews
- Configuration Audits
- Acceptance Events
- Provide technical input to support program decision-making milestone reviews and acquisition strategies.
- Coordinate with government stakeholders depot personnel engineering teams and contractors to ensure alignment on requirements and deliverables.
Reverse Engineering & Gap Analysis
- Conduct reverse engineering efforts to evaluate legacy DTS/ATS systems when technical data is incomplete or unavailable.
- Identify technical data deficiencies and develop comprehensive reports outlining findings risks and recommended corrective actions.
- Support the development of updated technical baselines and configuration documentation.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle management.
- Experience reviewing technical data packages and system specifications.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes configuration management and CDRL documentation.
- Knowledge of avionics systems aircraft maintenance test systems or automated test equipment preferred.
- Ability to perform technical gap analysis and reverse engineering assessments.
- Strong written communication skills for technical reporting and formal documentation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to maintain an active DoD clearance

This position supports depot-level aircraft maintenance and test system modernization programs requiring coordination with government engineering teams sustainment organizations and acquisition stakeholders.
